"3p blood pressure pill beats dementia"

On the 6th March 2013 the Daily Express ran an article with the headline “3p blood pressure pill beats dementia”. This gave the impression that research on the drug losartan had already been completed but the trial hasn’t started.

Dr Pat Kehoe, University of Bristol and lead scientist on the losartan UK trial:

"While we certainly have an attractive drug candidate both from the point of view of possible effect and the low cost, we cannot get ahead of ourselves here or over simplify things - we still have to conduct the study to generate the proper evidence before we can make any claims as to how useful the drug will be."
